Why hire a postpartum doula?

A postpartum doula can help a new mother adjust to life with a new baby by providing her with information, education and community resources she needs to become the best mother she can be.

A postpartum doula is also experienced with breastfeeding so she can assist a new mother by providing her with the information and support she needs to successfully breast feed her baby.

A postpartum doula can also help a mother who has twins by synchronizing her babies' schedules.

Where do we provide services?

Our postpartum doula services are provided in Toronto (GTA), Durham region and York region.

What our doulas do?

If she is working at night, and the mother is breastfeeding, a postpartum doula can take the newborn to be breastfed when is time for a feeding, and she can also look after him or her in between feedings (i.e. burping, changing diapers and holding the baby) so the mother can rest.

If the mother is not breastfeeding she will be the one to feed, burp, change diapers and hold the baby until he or she sleeps.

If the doula is working during the day she can help with laundry, light meal preparation, siblings and also assist with the newborn so mom can get some rest.

How long can a postpartum doula stay?

When working at night the doula normally arrives around 10 pm and leaves around 6 am but most of our doulas are flexible and can accommodate different times if the family needs it.

Day shifts vary but most doulas work at least 4 hour shifts which can be scheduled in the morning, afternoon or evening.

The majority of families hire postpartum doulas for the first 6 weeks after the birth of the baby but this time can be extended if necessary.

We can also do contracts as short as 2 weeks if necessary.

How Much Are Our Fees?

Our fees range between $25 and $35 per hour depending on the amount of babies and the level of doula experience required.

Occasionally we have student doulas who are looking to gain experience so will work for a lower rate.
